Take a look at the great condition of this vintage Wurlitzer 'Lyric' trumpet (or cornet, I don't for sure which it is) that I just found in a local estate. I am NOT an expert on musical instruments, but I have seen and sold enough of them to tell you this seems like an excellent instrument, very well made, solid and BEAUTIFUL in my opinion.
I also don't know the actual age, but I'm guessing (only guessing) it is at least 60 years old or more.It has a silver finish, but I have no idea if it is silver plated, chrome, nickel plated, or what. Please note I have NOT polished it up (I never do that, always leaving that decision to the new owner) and it still looks GREAT!
The horn is engraved 'Lyric Wurlitzer U.S.A.' The serial number is '145' - at least I guess that is the serial number that appears on the middle valve - see photos - and I don't find any other number on it that would seem to be a serial number.
Overall length with the mouthpiece inserted is about 17.25 inches. All three valves work smoothly and all of the slides came out easily (the smallest one on the side came out too easily, I think, so it might need some adjusting, but it does stay in place under normal handling). I find no breaks in the welds. There are some light dings and the horn has a light bend or two, but nothing too bad in my opinion - see photos (and there are a few other light dings here and there that I didn't get photos of, but again, just typical type dings commensurate with the age of the instrument). It includes the case shown, but I don't imagine it is original to the horn (it has an 'Ambassador' emblem on it). The case is a bit worn, soilied and damaged, and the automatic springs in the clasps don't work (but the clasps do work), and the purple interior has some smell to it, but overall the case is still serviceable. THIS SURE SEEMS LIKE A NICE AND HIGH QUALITY TRUMPET, SO DON'T MISS OUT!
